Artist Jessica Geach founded Ruby Cubes back in 2015 as a way to explore her love for textiles. After experimenting with textures and forms she quickly realised the passion resided in making beautiful 3D objects that were both tactile and purposeful.
Jessica works with organic cotton threads and unbleached cotton rope (organic fairtrade alternatives do not exist in the UK.) to make each piece in her collection. Unbleached means the cotton has not been through bleach vats, which are harmful to the environment and people.
Jessica is continually striving to make the best choices for her business both morally and environmentally and is fully transparent about the materials and the processes she uses. The materials chosen are always natural and she stays away from synthetic options wherever possible.
Taking inspiration from the hilltops, rivers and rolling landscapes that surround her dwellings in Dartmoor, UK, Jessica makes each of these beautiful pieces by hand and is fascinated by the process of turning piles of braid into tactile, purposeful, baskets, bowls and homewares.
